San Francisco City Hall Local media and community members attended the press conference as leading anti-trafficking advocates, service providers, survivors and top Bay Area officials announced their priorities for 2017 in the fight against modern-day slavery. We honored the 2017 SFCAHT Modern-Day Abolitionist Award winners for their groundbreaking work against human trafficking. Press conference speakers included:

Teen Power Event and Honoring the Winners of the Teen Poster & Writing Contest

San Francisco Main Public Library, Koret Auditorium Event Co-Sponsors: Freedom Forward & National Council of Jewish Women San Francisco Joined by parents, teachers and community members, youth from across the Bay Area gathered to perform and share experiences in anti-trafficking advocacy and prevention. Supervisor Katy Tang presented the awards to the winners of the SFCAHT 2017 Teen Poster and Writing Contest. Master of Ceremonies was Human Rights Documentary Filmmaker Sheri Shuster. Dr. Emily Murase, SF Board of Education Member and ED of the SF Department on the Status of Women and victim rights attorney Rose Mukhar, Chair of the SFCAHT Teen Poster and Writing Committee, addressed the audience. For Shelter Volunteers - to make a direct impact on the lives of Freedom House residents by spending quality time with them.

For over 10 years, the Jewish Coalition has been rallying the Bay Area community to fight against modern-day slavery. During the 10th Anniversary Celebration, the achievements of the Coalition were recognized while honoring its founders. Attendees learned about the historic struggle of the Jewish community to eradicate human trafficking and heard the personal story of a Jewish survivor, while also learning how to prevent modern-day slavery from occurring in their community. Featured speakers included Former California Assembly Speaker pro Tempore Sally Lieber and Rabbi Doug Kahn.
