Kickoff Press Conference & Modern Day Abolitionist Award Ceremony

San Francisco City Hall The local media and community members joined together on January 11th for the 10th Annual Press Conference of SFCAHT where leading anti-trafficking advocates, service providers, survivors and Bay Area top government and law enforcement officials announced their priorities for the year in fighting modern-day slavery. We kicked off the month long awareness campaign and honored the 2019 Modern-Day Abolitionist Award winners: Justice at Last's Founder, Executive Director and Lead Attorney Rose Mukhar and San Mateo County Human Trafficking Program Coordinator John Vanek. At this event, we also presented Inspiring Leadership Awards to the past co-chairs of SFCAHT: Nancy Goldberg, Catherine Dodd, Nancy Kirshner-Rodriguez, Julie Soo, and Marianna Warmee. Our keynote speaker was Ima Matul, human trafficking survivor-advocate and consultant, Coordinator of the Survivor Leadership Program at the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST). Our other featured speakers included: FBI Special Agent in Charge John Bennett, San Francisco Superior Court Judge Susan Breall, Deputy Public Defender Patti Lee and Generations United Inc.'s Programs Director Benita Hopkins. |

Teen Power Summit and Closing of the 2019 Anti-Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign and Honoring the Winners of the Teen Poster and Writing Contest

San Francisco Public Library, Koret Auditorium Youth from across the Bay Area gathered at the San Francisco Main Public Library to share experiences in anti-trafficking advocacy and prevention. At this event, we also honored the winners of the 2019 Teen Poster and Writing Contest. Parents, teachers, local politicians, and top government officials spoke about their work to free our communities from child slavery. Download the event program HERE. |

2nd Annual Shattering Barriers Symposium

Description: The symposium focused on male victimization and marginalization.
Symposium Highlight: There is so much to discuss when it comes to human trafficking. However, there is also a lot of voidances and even marginalization in the human trafficking movement. So, we created a space for real discussion on a few topics:

Our Workforce Development program empowers and equips survivors of human trafficking and at-risk young adults here in the Bay Area to access financially sustainable careers.
Attend or become a sponsor to help change the future of survivors in your community. Event includes Dinner, Refreshments, Entertainment, and Auction.

Please join us to share some wonderful Italian foods and fine wines and hear from speaker Nancy O’Malley, Alameda County District Attorney.

As space is limited and the training is FREE, we highly encourage Executive Directors and Managers of organizations/agencies providing victim services to register.
