The participants learned about effective policies and innovative programs preventing the use of business venues and chains of supply for human trafficking. Professionals and volunteers in the field exchanged experience and network in fighting this heinous crime and assisting the survivors. Milton Marks Conference Center, California State Building The Conference was a tremendous success! State legislators, city officials, state and federal law enforcement, community advocates and victim service providers met for a full day to discuss local policies and practices to combat labor trafficking. The 100+ participants attended several panel presentations featuring stellar speakers, and worked in groups to develop recommendations for improved local policies and laws to combat labor trafficking. San Francisco City Hall, Mayor's Balcony The San Francisco Collaborative Against Human Trafficking held a press conference to announce its innovative collaboration and to introduce a month-long awareness campaign. To mark the occasion, Mayor Gavin Newsom, San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris, Supervisor Carmen Chu, Police Chief George Gascon a human trafficking survivor, and local service providers discussed human trafficking and its local and global implications.
