OUR WORK
SFCAHT facilitates the collaboration between all participating government agencies and non-governmental organizations in combating human trafficking through prevention, prosecution and protection of the victims, and coordinates the planning of relevant joint activities: annual public awareness campaigns, annual teen poster and writing contests, annual conferences, volunteer campaigns, educational events and trainings, general membership and committee meetings.
Annual Public Awareness Campaigns
Since 2010, the City of San Francisco formally recognized the dates between January 11(National Human Trafficking Awareness Day) and February 12 (Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday) as Human Trafficking Awareness Month. During this month, SFCAHT carries out an annual anti-trafficking public awareness campaign with multiple events and initiatives, presents the Modern-day Abolitionist Awards and honors the winners of the Teen Poster and Writing Contest. Annual Teen Poster and Writing Contests
The SFCAHT Teen Poster and Writing Contest is open to high school students attending public, private, or home schools in San Francisco Bay Area.
Submitted posters are original artworks (no copyrighted materials) that involve any media (paint, crayons, stickers, charcoal, computer-generated graphics, etc.) and can be created by an individual or in groups of up to 3 members. Winners are recognized by the San Francisco officials during the Human Trafficking Awareness Month. View all annual contests by year HERE.
Annual Conferences
The SFCAHT Conferences are held annually for professionals and volunteers to deepen their knowledge of particular aspects of the anti-trafficking work and provide a venue for exchange of good practices. Representatives of government and law enforcement agencies, non-profit victim service providers, advocacy groups, businesses, educators and legislators gather for these full day educational event as recognized experts and practitioners in the field present on various topics and share experience. Other Educational Events & Volunteer Campaigns
In addition to the annual conferences, awareness campaigns and teen contests, SFCAHT holds various trainings, other educational events and volunteer campaigns aimed at public awareness raising and increased involvement of the civil society in the local anti-trafficking effort. SFCAHT's participating agencies gather for general meetings at least three times a year to strategize and plan collaborative action. At this meetings agencies also present about their anti-trafficking activities, programs and services for survivors.
